5 myths about loft home designs BUSTED!

5 myths about loft home designs BUSTED! feature

At New Generation Homes, we love seeing the exciting benefits that loft home designs can bring to WA families.

Lofts allow you to enjoy two-storey living without the price tag, leaving you with more money to perfect your home’s finishes or even put in a swimming pool! And because you’re utilising your roof area to add more living space to your home, you can still retain your backyard as well.

To help you find out more about loft living, our Design Team have tackled some of the myths behind loft home designs:

Loft home design myth 1: Lofts have low ceilings – BUSTED!

In order to meet the standards set out in the NCC 2016 Building Code of Australia, our designers strive to ensure that two thirds of the ceiling area in a loft is 2400mm or higher. For example, in our award-winning Fleetwood display home, tall raked ceilings beautifully elongate the large loft space. (Our home builders will never extend the floor space all the way to the roof boundary, as this is not permitted in Australia.)

Loft home design myth 2: Loft areas are stuffy – BUSTED!

Our Perth home builders believe that a loft space should feel just as open and inviting as any other area in the home, if not more so! We maximise the use of windows in our loft home designs to create airy, light filled living spaces, as evident in our Fleetwood and Taylor display homes.

We’ve also developed standard specifications for our loft home designs to avoid stuffiness. An innovative thermal-like blanket (Anticon) covers the entire roof space, while insulation of all R-ratings is used to separate the loft area from other rooms. In addition, there is the option to incorporate air-conditioning for even greater ventilation.

Loft home design myth 3: Loft areas are small – BUSTED!

Our Perth home designs give modern families the room they need to live and grow, including in the loft! For example, our Kenzo 17 loft home design features an entire children’s wing upstairs, with three bedrooms, a family bathroom and activity room. Should you be looking to extend your loft area even further, our home builders can incorporate front and rear balconies into your home design.

Loft home design myth 4: Loft areas are noisy – BUSTED!

We design our loft spaces to be sophisticated sanctuaries, which is why we pay particular attention to acoustics. All of our loft home designs feature insulation beneath the floor to reduce noise transfer. Acoustic spacing is also utilised to absorb sound.

Loft home design myth 5: Loft areas look cheap – BUSTED!

View our Fleetwood and Taylor display homes to discover how our loft home designs give you a high-end looking home at an affordable price. We invite you to choose the elevation that reflects your style, from a traditional cottage look to an edgy modern home.
